Outpatient Therapy

Individual and family therapies are available at Lakemary to children and adults with both intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and mental health issues.  Services are provided at both our Olathe and Paola locations to Kansas and Missouri residents. In-home family therapy is available to those that qualify.


  • Serving ages 5 through adulthood.
  • Individuals with intellectual disabilities and co-occurring mental health issues.
  • Many individuals served have difficulties with emotional regulation, social interactions, impulse control, obsessive thoughts/behaviors that negatively impact their daily functioni
    ng, anger management, anxiety, relationship issues, or grief/loss issues.
  • Admission is not based on previous or current services received at Lakemary.

Referrals to Lakemary come from a number of sources including families, targeted case managers, home school districts, and mental health professionals.

Individual treatment plans are developed upon admission and reviewed on a regular basis to determine treatment needs. Typically, individuals participate in therapy on a weekly basis with sessions lasting about an hour.

Child TherapyWe accept Kansas Medicaid (Amerigroup, Sunflower State Health, United Healthcare), Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield KS, most major insurance companies and private pay arrangements. Please contact us if you have questions regarding your insurance benefits for our services.

All therapists are licensed at the master’s level.  Clinician certified specialities include play therapy, Applied Behavioral Analyst (ABA), Certified Autism Specialist, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapies.  All therapists have experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Service locations are available in both Miami & Johnson counties.
