Q&A With Tiffany Smith, House Manager
Working with children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities can be challenging; however, as any Lakemary staff member will tell you, it is extremely rewarding. Our staff have a such passion for helping others and they make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many individuals.
Tiffany Smith is a House Manager who oversees a residence in Olathe, KS where adults with special needs live. She has worked at Lakemary for three years. We interviewed her to learn more about her role here at Lakemary and why she decided to work with individuals with special needs. Read her remarks below!
Tell us a little bit about what you do.
Tiffany: “I manage a house called Hartley and plan outings for the adults who live there, teach daily living skills, and assist with meal prep, med administration, and home activities.”
What inspired you to work with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilites?
“Some of my family members have disabilities, and that sparked my passion to work with and care for individuals with disabilities.”
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
“Seeing the individual’s smiles and hearing “Hi Tiffany!” always brightens my day and makes my heart happy!”
What is something people should know about Lakemary and/or the people we serve?
“Lakemary does an amazing job at making sure our clients have everything they need to be happy and healthy. I cannot explain the love I have for this company and the individuals we serve. I am so grateful to be a part of this family!”
What advice would you give others looking to work in this industry?
“Definitely do it! I learn something new about life everyday from the individuals we serve.”
