K-12 School

Lakemary School is a year-round, K-12 accredited school for children with special needs.

All teachers are certified in Special Education.  Lakemary School follows a traditional school day and calendar.

designed to meet student needs

Each student benefits from services and support designed to meet his or her Individualized Education Program (IEP). Students are placed in classrooms with peers of similar age and function level.  Each class is low-density to allow teachers to focus more on each individual’s needs.

Students have access to individualized, multidisciplinary services including art, music, speech and language, recreational, and occupational therapies provided by credentialed professionals.   Our staff are also trained in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and a team of non-classroom staff assist when disruptive behaviors arise.

We know that helping children grow up healthy takes families, schools, and communities working together.

Our School Wellness & Nutrition Policy encourages eating healthy and supports physical activity for students and staff.

Lakemary Ranch is our animal and garden therapy center. The Ranch is an extension of Lakemary School and provides education, recreation and therapy for the students and adults we support.

Our beautiful barn hosts daily group activities such as classroom instruction, special presentations, individual, group and family therapy.  Therapists use our chickens, rabbits, goats, pigs, and dogs in helping our learners express their feelings, learn healthy behaviors, and improve self-esteem.

The addition of the Ranch has led to many exciting partnerships with organizations including the K-State Extension Master Gardeners, Spring Valley Rabbits and Terabithia Goat Farm.
